Two communities with incidences over 4000

The corona situation in the city and district remains tense, although the health department continues to assume that the disease will be mild in most of those infected. Local outbreaks in individual communities are driving up the number of infections there noticeably. Overall, however, the infection process is still diffuse, according to the health department.

At the same time, the number of patients admitted to the Main Clinic in Ochsenfurt because of Covid-19 is increasing again, as the deputy head of administration Georg Sonnek reports at the request of the editors. Nine Covid patients are treated in the normal ward, three in the intensive care unit. A third of the patients came to the clinic because of another illness, but still have to be isolated due to their corona infection.

Patients in intensive care but not ventilated

“This surprises us insofar as we have hardly had to admit any Covid patients to the normal ward in the past few weeks and have been able to send them home again after outpatient treatment,” continued Sonnek. The two patients suffering from Covid in the intensive care unit do not currently have to be ventilated, says Sonnek. However, their general condition requires close monitoring.

Infected employees continue to cause problems for the clinic. 15 nurses are currently in domestic isolation after a positive corona test. Some of them had severe cold symptoms despite triple vaccination. Planned operations still have to be postponed, according to Sonnek, because it cannot be guaranteed that an intensive care unit that may be required for aftercare will be available.

A look at the district map shows how differently individual communities are affected by new infections. In view of the high number of cases in recent weeks, the color code in the display has been changed in order to be able to show what is happening more clearly.

The number of new infections in Kleinrinderfeld and Uettingen has skyrocketed in the past seven days. More than a quarter of all cases that have been restricted there so far come from the past week. The local incidence, i.e. the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants, jumps accordingly to a value of over 4000. Uettingen’s neighboring communities Holzkirchen and Remlingen, on the other hand, are among the communities with the lowest number of cases.

Highest incidence among 5-14 year olds

As the evaluation of the data published by the Robert Koch Institute shows, five to 14-year-olds are still most affected by nine infections. In both the city of Würzburg and the district, the age-specific incidence is around 4,000. In the city, the proportion of those already infected in this age group has risen to 39.2 percent as of Monday, and to 29.6 percent in the district. Calculated across all age groups, the infection rate is currently 18.8 percent in the city of Würzburg and 15.1 percent in the district.
