Two children in the pool, three men in the rivers. On Saturday, rescuers were employed by drowning people

For the first time, police officers set out to search for people lost in the water on Thursday night. They received reports of two 16-year-old boys who disappeared below the Sázava surface on Wednesday afternoon. We haven’t been able to find them yet.

Around noon on Saturday, rescue services set out for the Lužnice in the Tábor region, where a boat with two men overturned on the weir. A 37-year-old man was found and taken to hospital in a stable condition. A man three years younger remained under the weir and had not yet been traced.

A few hours later, an announcement came from Orlík, where a man jumping into the water from a boat was not swimming. Even in this case, the search has not yet been successful. Another search operation took place on the Sázava River in the Benešov region, where a 54-year-old man went swimming on Saturday and disappeared. Police found him drowned around five o’clock.

Two drowning children

In addition, rescuers set out on Saturday afternoon to help a child drowning in a swimming pool in the Mělník region. She ended up in a serious condition in the hospital. Petra Kafková, a spokeswoman for the South Bohemian rescuers, added that the crews also went to drown the child in a swimming pool in the Český Krumlov region.

“The toddler fell into the garden pool and was unconscious after breathing from the water. Thanks to the timely withdrawal from the water and well-provided first aid, the child was already conscious when the rescuers arrived. The medics stabilized his condition and subsequently transported him to the hospital, “said Kafková.

In the South Bohemian Region alone, rescuers traveled to 14 drowning people from June, of which six were children. Four in the pool or garden pond, another in the pond and river.

Drowned paddlers

In June, the public was shocked by the case of a father who was driving down the flooded Morávka with two daughters. The ship capsized with them and the eight-year-old girl drowned. Several paddlers died in flooded rivers at the turn of June and July.

Every year, the police warn of the danger of water. “Safety should come first and boaters should not venture on flooded rivers and water levels where there are big and dangerous waves. Unfortunately, every year the police intervene in overturned ships and assist in rescuing paddlers, “said police spokeswoman Lenka Pokorná.

A separate chapter is then swimmers under the influence of alcohol. Drunk swimmers have slower reactions and may also have health complications. It is very dangerous to swim in a submerged state at night, when swimmers can quickly lose their orientation.
