The two children easily managed to steal the bag of a merchant who was offering his jewelry to a shopkeeper in Istanbul in less than two minutes.
In a very professional manner, as if they were adults, two children between the ages of 8 and 12 were able to complete a robbery with complete professionalism, in an area located in central Istanbul, without the victim noticing what happened around him, as well as the shop owner who witnessed the incident.
In the details, a jeweler was a victim of theft in the Sultangazi district of Istanbul, where two Turkish children managed to steal his bag containing quantities of gold estimated at 4 million Turkish liras, equivalent to 208 thousand US dollars, in addition to a sum of money of 100 thousand. The merchant said, according to what was reported by local Turkish media: “I was visiting my customers and showing them my products, and minutes after I entered a store in the Sultan Ghazi area, another person entered the store and was intending to buy jewelry.”
He added, “When I looked at this person for about 10 seconds, I later found that my bag, which was on the ground, was no longer there.”
And the jewelry merchant quickly left the shop to chase an adult who was standing at the door, but it turned out later that he was not the thief who stole his bag, especially since the surveillance cameras clearly showed that two children had stolen his bag.
The shop owner and merchant informed the police of what happened, and they have been searching for the two children since the end of last week when the accident occurred.
The authorities have not yet found the two children, nor have they disclosed any information regarding their identities.
The jewelry dealer will have to sell his house and car to be able to pay off the debts that may accumulate in the coming period if the police are unable to return his bag and the gold and money it contains, according to his statements to local media.
The merchant had met the two children in front of the door of the jewelry store, and one of them was pretending to tie his shoelaces before they disappeared from sight.
