What are the routes of infection?
Pathogenic bacteria are transmitted to other people by being released into the external environment when they cough, sneeze, talk to sick people and healthy carriers who are sources of infection, that is, they do not have symptoms, but are carriers of meningococcal bacteria.
Bacteria penetrate the mucous membrane of the nasopharynx, and a person will get sick with nasopharyngitis. If a person has good protective abilities, the disease ends there without further spread. And if a person has low immunity, bacteria penetrate through the lymphatic vessels of the nasopharynx into the blood and further damage the layers of the brain. The incubation period of the disease averages 2-4 days.
What are the symptoms of the disease?
The disease begins suddenly, a person experiences a headache, the fever rises to 39-40 ° C, weakness, vomiting, a rash on the body in the form of stars, pain in the body and limbs appear. Meningococcal infection is dangerous with various complications that can lead a person to death.
What are the preventive measures?
In the prevention of diseases, it is important not to catch a cold and dress according to the season, drink only boiled or bottled clean water, maintain the necessary personal hygiene, exercise regularly, and strengthen the immune system.
