Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —
Two cases covid-19 varian omicron detected yesterday, Friday (17/12). With these additional findings, a total of three cases of the omicron variant in Indonesia have been detected.
In a written statement from the Ministry of Health, Spokesperson for COVID-19 Vaccination Siti Nadia Tarmizi said that the two patients were the results of sample examinations from 5 probable cases of Omicron who had just returned from abroad.
“The two most recent confirmed patients are IKWJ, 42 years old, male, traveling from South America and M, 50 years old, male, traveling from England. Currently both are undergoing quarantine at Wisma Atlet,” said Nadia, Saturday (18 /12).
The first Omicron patient was confirmed last Thursday with the initials of N, a cleaning worker at Wisma Atlet Kemayoran.
This finding is the result of a special SGTF examination conducted by the Health Research and Development Agency on 14 and 15 December.
Nadia said these two patients were confirmed by Omicron after undergoing mandatory 10-day quarantine after returning from abroad. According to him, this shows that the government’s protection system is running well to prevent transmission from immigrants from abroad who are infected with the Covid-19 virus.
Nadia appealed to the public to remain vigilant and not to travel abroad first. Especially considering the rate of spread of Omicron proved to be very fast.
“Indonesia is one of the safest countries from Covid-19. If we leave the country, we will move out of the safe zone to the dangerous zone. If we return, it will potentially bring Omicron to Indonesia and will certainly damage this already conducive situation,” he said.
