Golfers Sasha Laoun and her teammate Élizabeth Blier will sport the maple leaf as they represent Canada at the 2022 FISU World University Championships, July 20-23 in Turin, Italy.
The two student-athletes have managed to distinguish themselves in recent seasons, which finally allowed them to obtain these invitations.
Laoun took fifth place at the Canadian University Championship. The Montreal-born was a two-time RSEQ Second Team All-Star and recently represented Team Canada at the 2022 Deaflympics (Olympic Games for the Deaf) in Caxias do Sul. , in Brazil, where she finished fifth overall.
For his part, Blier has finished tied for ninth at the Canadian University Championship and is a former provincial junior champion from Quebec. The third-year physiotherapy student was named to the RSEQ’s second all-star team and was named Carabins rookie of the year in 2019.
