Two Black Hawk Helicopters Crash in Kentucky, Resulting in the Death of Nine US Soldiers.

Two helicopters Black Hawk belonging to the United States Army (US) accident and crashed in Kentucky. Nine soldiers died in the incident.

Reporting from AFP, Thursday (30/3/2023), a spokesman for the 101st Airborne Division, Lieutenant Colonel Anthony Hoefler, said the two helicopters crashed during a training mission. The plane belonging to the 101st Airborne Division crashed and killed nine soldiers.

The accident occurred in the Trigg Kentucky area, northwest of Fort Campbell on Wednesday (29/3) at around 10pm local time.

“The crew were flying two HH60 Black Hawk helicopters during a routine training mission when the incident occurred,” it said in a statement, adding that the incident was being investigated.

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear tweeted that he will be “traveling to Fort Campbell to support troops and their families after last night’s tragic incident.”

Beshear earlier said on Twitter that Kentucky police and emergency management responded, saying: “Please pray for all those affected.”

Fort Campbell is home to the 101st Airborne Division, the US Army’s only air attack division.

Nicknamed the “Screaming Eagles”, the division was activated in August 1942 and rose to prominence during World War II in the D-Day landings and the Battle of the Bulge. More recently the division has been in action in Iraq and Afghanistan.
