Two popular beaches in Sydney, Australia have been closed after hundreds of mystery balls washed ashore

Two beaches in the Australian city of Sydney were temporarily closed because black balls containing petroleum were found. The board reports this Randwicktown of sydney. The balls could be dangerous to people.

This applies to the popular beaches of Coogee Beach and Gordon’s Bay. Dozens of these black balls were swept up yesterday. As it is still not clear where they come from and whether they are dangerous, the town advises to avoid the beaches and not to swim in the sea.

The city has asked the environment department, among other things, to investigate the cause. According to the Australian news channel ABC News, an offshore oil leak is the most reasonable explanation.

Residents near the beaches are also concerned. One of them has been swimming in the sea for forty years and told the TV channel that he had “never encountered anything like this before.”
