Two citizens were arrested in the area of Kavala by police officers of the Ioannina Security Sub-Directorate, with the assistance of police officers of the Kavala Security Department, accused – as the case may be – of violations of antiquities, weapons and drugs legislation.
In particular, the police proceeded to arrest the two nationals, in the context of information that they were in possession of an object, which falls under the protective provisions of the legislation for the protection of antiquities.
As part of the investigations, the police officers located the object in question in an outdoor spot in the area of Kavala, where they had hidden it, which, examined by the Ephorate of Antiquities of Kavala, was estimated to be a marble linoleum (press), dating back to the Roman period and subsequently delivered to the above service.
In addition, the following were found and confiscated in the possession and at the home of a citizen:
- two dragons,
- iron fist,
- dagger,
- knife,
- plastic card with folding metal blade,
- 51/2 narcotic tablets and
- 1,505 euros.
A preliminary investigation into the case was carried out by the Security Directorate of Ioannina, while those arrested were taken to Mr. Prosecutor Plemmeliodiki Kavala.
