Two arrested in Manchester after hostage-taking in US synagogue | Europe up to date | D.W.

This was reported this Monday (01.17.2022) by the British Police. The adolescents remain detained after the British Malik Faisal Akram, 44, was identified as responsible for the hostage-taking, in an incident that lasted several hours and in which the author lost his life after being shot by the Police.

The Police of the so-called Greater Manchester reported that agents of the anti-terrorist unit in the northwest of England arrested two young people, whose ages or identities have not been provided.

Akram, originally from Blackburn in northern England, had arrived at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York two weeks ago and later bought the gun he used in the synagogue, according to US law enforcement.

In his hours-long negotiations with US agents, Akram called for the release of Pakistani scientist Aafia Siddiqui, who is serving an 86-year prison sentence in Texas for trying to kill US soldiers and agents while detained in Afghanistan. (EFE).
