Two airlines are investigating that they do not return money for tickets – Tourism

The British Agency for the Protection of Competition and Markets has launched an investigation into British Airways and Ryanair for violating consumer law after both companies failed to reimburse passengers who failed to travel during the pandemic., announced BNR.

British Airways also offered the victims vouchers an opportunity with the money already given for re-booking. Ryanair also allowed a reservation, but both companies refused to refund. They claim to be acting within the law.

The head of the British Competition Authority, Andrea Coselli, said she understood that airlines were going through hard times, but that did not mean unfairly depriving people of the right to get their money back.

However, a British Airways spokesman defended the carrier’s actions. He pointed out that during such an unprecedented crisis, the company has returned the money to many customers in some form and with its flexible policy has allowed the change of dates or destinations, for which it is grateful to customers.

The spokesman added that it was unbelievable that the government was trying to punish the industry even more, which is already on its knees, banning carriers from operating scheduled flights for more than a year: “Any action against our industry will only destabilize the sector with all the potential consequences for jobs, business, travel opportunities and the British economy,” said a spokesman for British Airways.
