Oriental Mindoro Governor Humerlito Dolor has confirmed that oil spill from a sunken ship carrying 800,000 liters of industrial fuel has reached Baco and San Teodoro towns. The fuel tanker, MT Princess Empress, sank off the coast of Naujan on 28 February. The spill has now left grease and oil stains in the marine protected areas of Baco and San Teodoro, where swimming and fishing are not currently permitted. If the oil spill continues to spread, the declaration of a state of calamity in the whole province may be necessary.
