Two Accidents in Guadeloupe: One Death, One Serious Injury, and Road Safety Concerns

Two accidents punctuated the course of this day. They performed at Le Lamentin and Petit Bourg. If the first generated a major traffic disruption on the RN2 between Le Lamentin and Sainte Rose, the second required a major emergency response. It caused one death and one injury.

It would be a notorious imprudence which would be at the origin of the accident reported this morning at the level of the interchange of Bréfort in Lamentin. The driver of a light vehicle tried to make a U-turn when crossing the solid line. He then allegedly hit the pilot of a two-wheeler who was seriously injured. Medicalized on site, he was taken to the University Hospital.

The other accident took place at the beginning of the afternoon at the Colin bridge in Petit-Bourg. The two people in the crashed vehicle had to be extricated. One of them, a young man of 25, died on the spot. The other, a 23-year-old man, was taken care of by the emergency services.

Since the beginning of the year, 31 people have lost their lives on the roads of the Guadeloupe archipelago.
