Twitter is coming this year with a feature it calls Super Follow, a spokesman told the news agency Reuters. The option allows users to access exclusive messages from another user for a fee.
Twitter users can only post certain tweets to their super followers. People and companies with super followers can also send them newsletters.
The social medium wants its individual products to reinforce each other, director Jack Dorsey said at a livestream. “Take audio rooms, which we Spaces call, and newsletters, that we can offer through our acquisition of Revue.”
“You can easily imagine starting with a tweet, the dialogue moving to live audio and this conversation being summarized in text. It’s this interaction that will prove powerful.”
With these steps, among others, Twitter wants to double its turnover. The company is aiming for an income of 7.5 billion dollars (6.17 billion euros) by 2023. According to critics, Twitter has been idle for years. According to director Dorsey, this is because the company is slow and not innovative, and because Twitter is not trusted.
