Twitter will change the way users are verified

California: Elon Musk said on Twitter on Sunday, just days after taking over one of the most influential social media platforms in the world, that Twitter would be adapting its user verification process.

“The whole verification process has been revamped at the moment,” Musk said in a tweet, without giving further details on what could change.

Twitter’s tech newsletter said Sunday, citing two people familiar with the matter, that Twitter is considering charging a fee for the prestigious blue tick designed to verify an account holder’s identity.

The report says users should subscribe to Twitter’s blue tick for $ 4.99 per month or lose “verified” badges if the project applies.

Tesla’s CEO hasn’t made a final decision and the project may still be scrapped but the platform is likely to see verification as part of Twitter’s blue tick.

The Blue Checkmark was launched in June last year as the platform’s first subscription service that provides “exclusive access to premium features” on a monthly basis, including the ability to edit tweets.

The tweet editing feature was also rolled out earlier this month after Musk insisted on using a Twitter poll in April asking his millions of followers if they wanted a button to edit tweets. And more than 70 percent agreed.
