Twitter will automatically caption videos – IT Pro – News

Twitter is going to provide videos with automatic subtitles. If iOS and Android users have muted the videos, the subtitles will appear by default. Through the desktop site, users must first press the ‘CC’ button.

When iOS and Android users also want captions for unmuted videos, they must set it through the device’s accessibility settings, writes Twitter. The caption option will only appear on videos uploaded from December 14 and will be released in phases. A spokesperson says against The Verge that there will be no option to report bad, inaccurate subtitles. It is not known in which languages the automatic subtitles will be available.

Earlier this year added Twitter already subtitles for audio tweets, although the Dutch language is not supported so far. This feature is currently only available for iOS. Twitter’s audio chat feature Spaces also has this year got live subtitles.
