Twitter wants to give more prominence to photos and videos

Twitter wants multimedia content to have more space “to shine” on its platform.

For this reason, the social network of microblogging is testing a new design for its timeline in which images, videos and gifs occupy the entire width of the screen. Currently, multimedia content leaves a bit of space on the left and right of the screen, but this new format will fill both gaps. Twitter posted a short video from their support profile to show us exactly what this new look will look like on an iPhone screen:

Now testing on iOS:

As can be seen in the video, so that the images occupy more part of the screen, the appearance of the tweet will undergo changes compared to how it is seen today. First, the thumbnails of the profile photos will be placed over the content of each publication instead of in the upper left margin. On the other hand, the username will be seen under the account, next to the date and time of publication.

It is possible that this new change in the appearance of Twitter – which is currently in the testing phase with some users – is related to its new Super Follow function, which allows you to pay a monthly subscription to access exclusive content from your preferred accounts . Given that with this new function, creators will be able to ask for money in exchange for showing some of their tweets (which will only remain available to those who have a subscription to their account), Twitter could be thinking of giving them a larger “canvas” to publish their content.
