Twitter users react – EzAnime.net

Vice President Kamala Harris made a surprise appearance at the Pride event in Washington on Saturday, but it was one of her patrons who caught the attention of many Twitter users.

Every time a president or vice president mixes with the public it becomes a challenge for those charged with protecting them, simply because the situation is less under the control of security.

Much of the attention on Twitter was directed to a tall man in sunglasses who was seen behind Harris in photos and videos as he traversed the parade area.

“The Secret Service is clearly not happy with the protégé taking a walk,” attorney George Conway wrote on Twitter.

Conway was responding to a video clip showing Harris addressing a crowd at an intersection as a Secret Service agent scanned the scene around him.

“This kind of spontaneous public participation (especially in a crowd of that size) induces anxiety in officers,” observed another, in response to a video showing Harris and Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff surrounded by protesters. (Several men around him looked like Secret Service agents as they turned their heads from left to right as other people advanced.)

Others on Twitter made more cheerful comments.

“This Secret Service agent is all of us trying to remember how to socialize after a year of Zoom and quarantine,” wrote one observer.

Some noted the casual dress of the officers.

“Secret Service ‘mix’ suits got me (laughing emoji),” wrote one person.

“By far the best part of this is that the Secret Service officer thought a bowling shirt was the default outfit for the pride parade,” wrote another.

Others seemed to recognize the difficult work Secret Service agents do.

“Thank you message to the Secret Service guy who ALWAYS stood by @ VP,” wrote one Twitter user.
