Twitter plans to get a long-standing complaint out of the way. It is currently the case that tweets repeatedly disappear from view while reading and slide up in the timeline. This happens most often when a lot of people are adding replies to a conversation – but also when updating the timeline.
Especially in heated discussions, the disappearance should prevent the tweet from duplicating in the timeline after new replies from other twitterers. “We know this is a frustrating experience, so we’re working to change that,” the company said. There should be a number of updates on the matter in the next two months. There was no concrete information about what these changes will look like. But you want to make sure that the timeline stays fresh and tweets don’t disappear while reading. The function is to be adapted both in the mobile app and in the desktop version.
Twitter has been testing new functions over and over again in the past few months. Work is currently underway, among other things, on the identification of good bots that inform users about important topics such as disasters and vaccination dates.
