Twitter advertisement that it will apply publicly visible labels to tweets that are identified as content that violates the hate speech policy.
These labels are similar to those that the social network applied in 2020 with Donald Trump. In the example, the label shows a legend explaining that this tweet violates the rules of use and adds a link directing to learn more.
The label will also restrict the appearance of the content near ads and will disable the function to comment, retweet, like or share.
In the era of Elon Musk’s Twitter 2.0, the social network ensures that this measure responds to its new philosophy in which he defends freedom of expression, but not freedom of scopewhich means that instead of removing the content they prefer to limit its visibility.

At the same time, Twitter is committed to being more transparent both with users and with the author of the offending tweet, providing information about what rules that specific content is violating.
Authors will also be able to comment on the hashtag if they believe the social network has made a mistake by restricting the visibility of their tweet.
With this change, Twitter said it hopes to remain a safe place for public conversation, while maintaining the balance of opinion. These tags are expected to apply to other usage policiesin addition to hate speech, in the coming months.
