Twitter says goodbye to Periscope in 2021

In 2015 Twitter was awarded the Periscope app. However, the company decided to end the platform that broadcast live video.

Despite the fact that the application will stop working in March 2021, they are already blocking any user registration.

But, those who already have an account on the platform will be able to continue using it and downloading a file with videos and photos belonging to their account, until the end date of the application.

As for the reasons for the closure of Periscope, these point to the maintenance costs of the platform. From Twitter they pointed out that “in the last two years, we have seen a decrease in use and we know that the cost of maintaining the application will only continue to increase over time.”

It seems that the application will not be needed by the company, since Twitter has its own function to broadcast live: Twitter Live.
