A native application at the end of its life?
Some users who have already installed the app have reported being able to continue using it, while others have reported that using the version iPad on MacOS could potentially cause problems. For its part, X has not confirmed the exact date of the app’s removal and has not yet responded to TechCrunch’s request for comment.
Moreover, this day could mark the end of l’application Mac of the company that has been the subject of numerous complaints from users due to its bugs. After the rebranding the Twitter in X in 2023the new name was implemented on all platforms except the Mac app which hadn’t been updated in about a year.

An uncertain future for Mac users
It’s unclear whether X plans to completely disable features of the Twitter app for Mac. Will Mac users have to settle for a potentially less capable web version that’s less integrated with their operating system?
The removal of the native app could also impact accessibility of the service for Mac users. Some of them might be reluctant to use the web version, preferring a dedicated application for reasons of practicality and ease of use.
Insufficient communication from X?
The lack of communication from X about this sudden decision is also surprising, as the company has not provided a clear explanation of the reasons for the withdrawal or future plans for the Mac user experience.
This lack of transparency could raise concerns among users who might see it as a sign of X’s disengagement from the Mac platform.
