Twitter permanently blocked a Member of Parliament’s account due to the spread of myths about covid-19

Taylor Greene’s Twitter account was temporarily blocked several times last year because the artificial intelligence system recognized in her posts such misleading information that it could harm people who read it.

The permanent ban only applies to the private account of politician @mtgreenee, it does not apply to her official account @RepMTG.

The House of Representatives, one of the most conservative and right-wing Republicans, had a private Twitter account blocked for a week last July.

At the time, she claimed that the coronavirus “is not dangerous for people who are not obese and who have not yet turned 65.”

The AP reports that, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), nearly a quarter of a million people under the age of 65 have died of covid-19 in the United States. About 825,870 coronavirus patients have died since the onset in the US pandemic.

Taylor Greene called Twitter’s policy an “attack on communist-style freedom of speech.” She said in a statement on Sunday that “Twitter is the enemy of America.”

The British newspaper The Guardian recalls that Taylor Greene, elected to the House of Representatives in 2020, has repeatedly provoked controversy.

He is regularly fined for failing to comply with hygiene regulations in force in Congress, including those relating to wearing nose and mouth protection.
