Twitter officially belongs to Elon Musk

Jakarta

Twitter officially owned Elon Musk. This confirmation is reported by the CNBC website, the Washington Post and internal sources, although the deal is still unclear according to the New York Times.

After becoming the owner of the social media icon with the blue bird, Musk immediately expelled Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal, CFO Ned Segal and Vijaya Gadde, head of company policy.

Not only that, Sean Edgett, Twitter’s general counsel, was included in the list of licensees. According to reports, one of the Twitter executives was taken out of the Twitter office with security guards.

According to CNBC, Musk has until Friday (10/28/2022) to complete his $ 44 billion Twitter acquisition or face a court battle with the company.

In April, Twitter accepted Musk’s proposal to buy the social media service and make it private. However, Musk soon began to question his intentions to carry out the deal, claiming that the company had failed to adequately disclose the amount of spam and fake accounts on the service.

When the richest man in the world said he would end the deal, Twitter sued the billionaire, accusing him of “refusing to honor his obligations to Twitter and its shareholders because the agreements he signed do not. serve his personal interests more. “

In the months that follow, Twitter and Musk will battle through their lawyers as both sides take the dispute to the Delaware Chancellery Court to determine the company’s fate and whether it will end up in the hands of Tesla’s head.

In early October, Musk changed his mind and said he would pursue the acquisition of Twitter at the original price of $ 54.20 per share if the social messaging service abandoned its litigation. Not believing Musk’s motives, Twitter’s lawyers said “Tesla’s CEO proposal is an invitation to further damages and delays.”

A Delaware Chancery Court judge finally ruled that Musk had until October 28 to either tighten the deal on Twitter or go to court.

On Thursday, Musk wrote a message intended to reassure advertisers that the social messaging service would not turn into a “free hell for all, where anything can be said without consequence!”

“The reason I acquired Twitter is because it is important for the future of civilization to have a common digital square, where different beliefs can be discussed in a healthy way, without resorting to violence,” Musk said in the message. “Today there is a grave danger that social media will split into far-right and far-left echo chambers that generate more hatred and divide our society.”

The Tesla and SpaceX boss arrived at Twitter HQ earlier this week with a sink and documented the event on Twitter, saying, “Going into Twitter HQ, keep that in mind!”

Musk also updated his Twitter description to “Chief Twit”.
