Twitter no longer works on iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus

Up to iOS 13, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus have been continuously updated by Apple. They are no longer today.

Regularly, the applications update themselves and analyze all the operating systems on which they run. The latest is Twitter which, with version 9.6 released 3 days ago, purely and simply abandons all iPhones running a version prior to iOS 14.

At the launch of iOS 14, Apple announced that it was abandoning all software tracking of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus after more than 5 years of updates. Users can thus continue to benefit from it, but they are more vulnerable to spyware and the slightest bug is no longer corrected. Unfortunately, these devices will now be unable to run Twitter, with social network officials now requiring your iPhone to be running at least iOS 14 to launch the app.

Many users of the social network were also quick to express their dismay when they saw that Twitter no longer worked at all or less well on their old iPhone.

In reality, the operation of Twitter on these iPhones is variable. Where some users will no longer be able to launch the app at all, others will only have access to around 30% of the app’s features. Some users complain that tweets no longer load, while current Top Trends can no longer be seen, it will no longer be possible to reply to a tweet or even modify your profile on a majority of iPhone 6s and of iPhone 6 Plus.

Fortunately, in January, Apple had unveiled the adoption figures for its OS. Thus, only 7% of iPhones still in use now run iOS 13 or older. In other words, 93% of iPhone owners will still be able to run Twitter.
