Twitter Inc. (NYSE: TWTR) will soon end its Snapchat-like Fleets feature. These are disappearing posts that did not bring the hoped-for increase in user activity (engagement) on Twitter.

Twitter only started its Fleets function less than a year ago and should compete with similar services from social media platforms such as Facebook / Instagram and Snap.
Fleets was introduced on the Twitter platform in November 2020 and offers users the opportunity to post texts, photos and videos, which then automatically disappear after 24 hours.
“We were hoping that Fleets would help make more people feel more comfortable joining the conversation on Twitter,” the company said in a blog post. we haven’t seen an increase in the number of new people joining the conversation with Fleets as we hoped. “
Snapchat, owned by Snap Inc., was the first provider of disappearing posts. Last Wednesday, Twitter announced that it would discontinue the Fleets function on August 3, 2021.
In June, Twitter had announced that it would test ads within Fleets in order to monetize the feature or the posts. Fleets will then no longer be available on Twitter as of August 3, 2021, the company said.
