Twitter may let you “untag” yourself from threads on the social network

Tired of being mentioned in nasty threads on Twitter? Finally, the platform works on a button to “unmark” from conversations whenever necessary. Programmer and recurring whistleblower Jane Manchun Wong found remnants of the feature in development, however, with no clues about the release date.

The “Leave this conversation” button, in addition to muting the thread (including replies and retweets), also removes the link to the user’s profile mentioned in the chat — also preventing it from being mentioned again. The tool is especially useful to contain targeted harassment in posts, or to signal that the account owner is not interested in participating in the discussion.

Even if the profile is no longer linked to the post, the owner of the mentioned profile can still check the thread and comment without any restrictions. If the conversation is muted, the post owner is not informed of the change.

still in development

Twitter has yet to confirm the feature’s development, but tipster Jane Manchun Wong is often not wrong in her predictions. Perhaps the platform is still working on the functionality, and while it’s not ready, it doesn’t want to reveal it to the public.

In addition, the function is very consistent with what Twitter has delivered in recent months: recently, means were included to limit tweet replies it is a Dedicated button for “remove follower”. For now, the function leaked by Wong remains without a release date.
