Twitter is working on a new ‘unmention’ feature that will allow you to leave a conversation – EzAnime.net

Twitter has been rolling out several new features in recent months for its users, and it looks like there will be more to come. Twitter privacy designer Dominic Camozzi shared on his personal profile some concepts of a feature that will allow you to “get rid of” conversations.

In 2020, Twitter began rolling out the option to restrict who can reply to a tweet you send, including options to allow only the people you follow or no one to reply to. Now the company is exploring the possibility of allowing users to leave a conversation in which they have been mentioned by other people.

As mentioned by Camozzi and noted by Engadget, this is just a “starter concept” but the feature may end up rolling out to all users in the future depending on feedback. Every time your account is mentioned in someone else’s tweet, you will see a “Unmention” button to remove the mention of your username.

This way, people will no longer be able to see your profile in that tweet and they will no longer receive any related notifications. The concept function also imagines another option to prevent someone from mentioning your account in any tweet.

Simply choose “Unsubscribe from this conversation” from the more information menu and the link to your profile will be removed. Going further, if someone you do not follow @ mentions you, you will receive a special notification. If the mention is removed from there, the author of the Tweet will not be able to mention it again.

It’s unclear if this feature will be available to everyone or even if Twitter will eventually make it part of the Twitter Blue subscription plan. What do you think about this? Would you like to have a “void mention” button? Let us know in the comments below.
