Twitter has announced a sharper response to its users’ hate comments on the coronavirus epidemic.
As the US internet company announced on Thursday, the Twitter guidelines on hatred-inducing behavior have been supplemented with content relating to serious illnesses.
It will therefore be prohibited in the future to “dehumanize” a group of people on the basis of their religion, age, disability or serious illness.
According to Twitter, tweets that violate the new policy should be deleted. An example was a tweet in which sick people were referred to as “rats”, “which contaminate everyone around them”.
More than 98,000 infections with the novel corona virus have now been confirmed worldwide. More than 3,300 people died from the Covid-19 lung disease caused by the virus.
