Since 1973, the landmark decision made during Roe v. Wade has allowed women the freedom to have abortions in the United States. But this month, almost 50 years later, the Supreme Court has decided that abortions will no longer be protected by the Constitution. Instead, each state now has the power to decide whether abortions will continue there or not, and so far 23 states have already decided to do away with it, according to The New York Times.
With nearly half the country set to ban the medical procedure, dozens of outraged protesters took to the streets after the Supreme Court announced the decision. Holding up handmade signs, they took a stand for what they believed: that people have a right to bodily autonomy.

But then there were other people who showed up at these rallies to put up their own signs and views, apparently supporting the overturning of Roe v. Wade. Why were they there? Hard to say, but the vibes were off according to the Twitterverse. But hey, at least some funny memes emerged from the whole charade. Shall we take a look?
A photo of an anti-abortion couple just got the meme treatment.
While attending a rally protesting the recent SCOTUS decision, California student Noelle Fitchett tweeted a photo of a couple grinning from ear to ear, holding a sign that read “We’re adopting your baby.”

Thousands of people press the Like and Retweet button on it. Then, as the comments poured in, many users called out this couple. “I mean, he’s friendly, but he’s super deaf. There are hundreds of thousands of children without parents. Focus on saving them instead of chasing after people’s bodies,” one user wrote.
But it wasn’t just that couple with that sign. Other couples (who also appeared to be white and conservative) were seen at protests across the country holding signs bearing the same messages.

Basically, a lot of Twitter users got mad at these signs saying “We’re Adopting Your Baby” for good reason. Why exactly? Well, if they really wanted to save a child’s life, they could have done it already. According to the most recent data from the Administration for Children and Families, there are currently an estimated 400,000 children in foster care waiting to be adopted.
That said, it seems that these people only want to adopt in cases where abortions are illegal and people lose their rights. They don’t actively care about saving children as much as they do about restricting women’s freedoms, which seemed untrue to some. Also, the people photographed holding these signs did not come across as warm and welcoming.
Instead, they were very one-sided and self-serving, as they were not thinking about the millions of women who are now affected by this decision. In our opinion, they are not the type of people who would like to adopt their child.
I hate those signs held up by smiling couples that say “we will adopt your baby.” In my crisis pregnancy, knowing that people would gladly take the baby from me but not help me keep it was worse than the pressure to abort.

That said, people are making fun of these people on Twitter by tweeting photos of famous figures and TV characters who definitely shouldn’t be parents, but with the caption “We’re adopting your baby.”
Do you remember these two? They waved weapons at Black Lives Matter protesters outside their home in 2020.

Hopefully, you get the joke behind all these tweets. But unfortunately, the biggest joke of all is that due to the recent court ruling, many babies will be born in horrible circumstances because people were forced to give birth.
While “We will adopt your children” signs may seem like a nice gesture at first glance, pro-choice women don’t want others to adopt their children as much as they want their rights back.
