Twitter is considered one of the best social networks that currently exist along with other high-caliber ones such as Facebook and its famous “family of applications”: Messenger, WhatsApp and Instagram. According to the Digital 2021 report developed by We Are Social and Hootsuite, the ‘blue bird’ platform has more than 353 million registered people, most of them trapped by the immediacy and simplicity that this social network offers.

However, amid the praise and positive characteristics that Twitter has, day by day there are also several criticisms that are made against this platform, especially on issues such as the design and presentation of audiovisual content (images and videos).

Although in recent months Twitter has tried to reinforce the failures that its own users have highlighted (with the inclusion of new options such as wider photos or the possibility of reacting to private messages), This company has recognized by itself that there is still a long way to go and that is why every week it comes out with new changes that it hopes can improve the experience of its users on the social network.

On this occasion, Twitter surprised its followers with a new optimization of its videos with which it hopes reduce the level of pixelation present in the recordings that people upload to your platform.

“Good news: we have made updates to improve the quality of the video. From today, videos you upload to Twitter will appear less pixelated for a better viewing experience”, Explained the company through a message in a publication made on its official support profile.

However, although at first the company did not give more information through its official sites, in conversation with the specialized portal The Verge, a spokesperson explained that the changes made to achieve improvements in the quality of the videos uploaded to the platform they are directly related to the elimination of one of the steps that Twitter developed during the content processing in its video channel.

According to what was said by the Twitter spokesperson, the main function of the eliminated step was to divide the videos into smaller fractions so that it would be easier to load them on the platform; Nevertheless, Over time it was noticed that although this process helped to reduce load times, it also negatively affected the quality of the video because it had to be processed more than necessary.

Finally, it was learned that being such a new change, for the moment the update will not be available for Twitter Media Studio, the administration tool with which users have control of all their videos on the platform. Also, it will only run on new videos that are uploaded with no chance for retroactivity, so older recordings might still show some pixelated details.

It should also be remembered that this is not the only improvement that Twitter is working on, as demonstrated by the applications researcher Jane Manchun Wong by means of a publication on your official profile. As evidenced in an image posted by Wong on the social network, This company is developing an option with which the speed of video playback can be adjusted.

In the photo you can see the playback options, which would start with a speed of 0.5x, going through a normal one, followed by a 1.5x one and ending with a 2x one.
