More than 100,000 views have accumulated on Twitter one of the latest threads by farmer Rodrigo Carrillo, known as ‘Tractorista de Castilla’ on the social network, where he tells more than 53,000 followers.
Carrillo has managed to leave all of them with their mouths open showing the Spectacular interior photographs of one of the homes with the most history and category in Villares del Saz (Cuenca)which everyone in town calls “the house of the Conversa”.
His family bought it some time ago to try to preserve it and stop its deterioration, although he admits that it is becoming “desperate” for them due to the lack of interest from the public authorities. With its precious hydraulic floor and its furniture unchanged since the beginning of the 20th century, time seems to have stopped in the house.. “It’s like traveling a hundred years ago,” says ‘Tractorista de Castilla’ and it can be verified by looking at the images that she has shared on Twitter.
But not only the material is genuine in the property, but the history that it treasures also deserves to be told and valued. “The house of the Conversa” was built last century, on what was a hostel and palace of the Marquis of Campo Real, by Cayo Conversa, a renowned lawyer and former mayor of Cuenca who marked an era in the town.
The fact is that Cayo Conversa, during his time as a student in Madrid, forged a great friendship with the prestigious Cuban avant-garde painter Wifredo Lamthat invited by the lawyer from Cuenca he spent several summers in the house in Villares del Saz, where he painted some of his works. Lam’s paintings, which she had a close artistic and personal relationship with Pablo Picasso or Frida Kahlo, are now exhibited in the most prestigious museums in the world, such as the MoMA in New York.
“We bought the house years ago for fear that it would be spoiled and with the intention that it would be used in the future for something related to tourism promotion or training. The Diputación de Cuenca was initially interested and took steps forward, but now it seems that the project has been forgotten“, Rodrigo Carrillo explained to EL ESPAÑOL – EL DIGITAL CLM.
In it twitter threadthe farmer has launched an SOS and added: “We are finding it desperate to try to move this story forward and that the politicians and people in charge of the area are interested in this cultural heritage that Villares keeps, which It not only has to be rehabilitated, but it has to be put at the service of all“.
“All towns keep stories and secrets, and many of them are worth remembering and putting in their rightful place. What makes no sense is ignoring it (…) These stories, which are really worth it, they are doomed to demolition if those who can do something forget about culture“, It is finished.
