Twitter fires 25% of the workforce in the first round of job cuts

According to the report, famed attorney Alex Spiro, Musk’s longtime legal representative, led talks about job cuts.

Twitter had more than 7,000 employees at the end of 2021, according to a regulatory report, and a quarter of the workforce equates to nearly 2,000 employees.

Musk denied a New York Times report that Twitter employees were fired before November 1 to avoid stock assignments due on that date.

Twitter did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Reuters.

Musk fired Twitter chief Parag Agrawal, chief financial officer Ned Segal, and legal and political chief Vijaya Gadde after the conclusion of the social media platform’s six-month $ 44 billion acquisition saga on Thursday, they told Reuters.
