Twitter deal: Musk wants the names of those responsible for spam and bot accounts

Even a hundredfold multi-billionaire cannot enjoy life without worries. A court hearing has been scheduled for October 17 to determine whether Elon Musk remains committed to buying social media company Twitter for the originally agreed $44 billion.

Twitter has sued Musk for withdrawing from the takeover business. He justified his withdrawal with the high number of fake accounts. Meanwhile, Musk wants to get down to business here.

In a sealed letter Tuesday, Musk’s law firm asked the judge to force Twitter to release the names of the employees responsible for calculating the percentage of bot and spam accounts. Musk’s defense team wants to be able to interview them before the court date. This was confirmed on Wednesday by a person familiar with the matter from the Reuters news agency.

At the same time, the stock market observed that Musk sold $6.9 billion worth of Tesla shares between August 5 and 9. Apparently, the financial strategist wants to prepare his cash register for a possible insight into the legal dispute, as Elon Musk has confirmed. After the sale of these additional 7.92 million shares, he “only” owns almost 15 percent of Tesla.

“In the (hopefully unlikely) event that Twitter forces this deal to close and some equity partners don’t go along with it, it’s important to avoid a fire sale of Tesla shares,” Musk wrote in a tweet Tuesday night. Further sales are not planned.
