Twitter Changes Name to “Titter” as Elon Musk Confirms Real Photos of Headquarters Sign

Twitter is now called ‘Titter’. Or that is the name that adorns the headquarters of the social media company in San Francisco, because the letter ‘W’ was painted over on the sign. Photos of ‘Titter’ surfaced a few days ago, and CEO Elon Musk confirmed last night that the images are real.

“According to our landlord, we are required by law to continue as ‘Twitter’ and cannot omit the letter ‘W’, so we painted them the same color as the background. Problem solved,” Musk wrote on Twitter. “Titter” is best translated as snigger or giggle. In a reply to himself, Musk jokingly added, “They tried to smother our snickers.”

In April last year, even before Musk had taken over the social media company, he already posted a poll on Twitter suggesting that the name should be changed.

“Smiling Poop Emoji”

The American magazine Forbes sent an email to Twitter asking for clarification of the striking move, but emails to an email address for press questions have been automatically answered with the “smiling poop” emoji for some time. “Although he is 51 years old, he has the sense of humor of a small child,” notes Forbes.

In recent times, many advertisers have turned their backs on Twitter because of the unrest on the social network since Musk took over. The revenues from subscription service Twitter Blue are also disappointing. In March, only 116,000 new subscribers would have been added.
