San Francisco TwitterCEO Jack Dorsey auctioned a digital version of his first tweet for $ 2.9 million. The tweet “just setting up my twttr” from March 2006 was from Sina Estavi, head of the Bridge company Oracle, as announced by Valuables by Cent, acquired the digital platform on which the auction was held.

The tweet was sold in the form of an NFT, a non-fungible token. This is a digital certificate of authenticity that confirms the uniqueness via blockchain.

Dorsey had previously tweeted that the proceeds would be exchanged for Bitcoin and donated to Givedirectly’s Africa Response. The organization solicits money for African families who are suffering financially from the corona pandemic.

Valuables announced that 95 percent of the sales proceeds went to the author of the tweet and five percent to the platform. Dorsey tweeted the Bitcoin sum on Monday and wrote that it had been given to the organization.
