Twitter merged Communities and Spaces in a test with the goal of allowing admins to host live audio conversations related to the specific interest the group is viewing.
The tech firm began testing this Wednesday to bring live audio conversations to communities. Spaces are found as another option, along with composing a “tweet” or sharing a gif.
With the spaces, the company hopes that the conversation will expand beyond the 280 characters that each ‘tweet’ supports, with live chat on specific topics of common interest, as explained in a press release collected by 9to5Mac.

Administrators and moderators will be able to manage the audio chat and invite participants among the members of the Community. However, and as the company clarifies through the Twitter Communities profile, any user of this platform will be able to see and enter a space started in a Community, even if they cannot leave comments.
At present, this integration of the two tools is being tested with a group of users in the United States.
