Twitter and the OAS launched a responsible digital citizenship guide

The Special Rapporteur for Freedom of Expression of the Organization of American States (OAS) and the social network Twitter presented a guide on responsible digital citizenship to combat misinformation during electoral cycles.

Twitter emphasized through a statement that “sharing information and interacting responsibly on Twitter is essential for healthy and quality conversations to exist. For this reason, Twitter and the OAS present the second edition of the guide on digital literacy and cybersecurity entitled ‘Literacy and Digital Security: The Importance of Staying Safe and Informed’ ”.

The guide is available today and includes practical steps to prevent cyberattacks, information about security on Twitter, and tips for verifying information.

The document also includes information on how to combat misinformation in networks, Twitter tips for journalists, and the importance of digital literacy for democracy among other areas.

“Digital literacy entails a continuous learning process for everyone to critically analyze the information we consume online and share it responsibly,” said Jessica Herrera-Flanigan, Vice President of Public Policy, Government and Philanthropy of Twitter for the Americas. .

“That is why we are pleased to continue collaborating with the OAS to continue offering resources that help people have a more fruitful, rewarding, and safe experience on the Internet and on Twitter,” he added. (Télam)
