Here’s a quick but useful update from Twitter.
While Fleets is still not a major component of the platform, it has slowly gained interest and seen increased usage. But one of the most annoying things about Fleets is that every time someone reacts or replies to your (Fleet) story, you get a DM letting you know that response.
It’s similar to Instagram Stories reactions, but on Twitter, which is more open to the public, it seems a bit more intrusive. So now you can turn off DM notifications if you want.
As explained by Twitter:
« You can now turn off the option for users to send emoji reactions and SMS replies to your fleet via DM. On Android (and soon iOS), tap the arrow next to the “Fleet” button, then tap the switch to turn off “Allow direct messages”. ”
This isn’t a major change, but it does offer more control and will prevent people from receiving random emoji messages and spam in response to their Twitter stories. I mean the fleets. Because they are “ephemeral”. Clever.
As Twitter notes, the update is now available on Android and soon on iOS.
