That is not the cause. My wife is Korean herself and we regularly talk to people about this. The main reasons people don’t want to have children are:

-Housing prices averaging $1 million. On average, people now have to save for 25 years before they can buy.

– 52 hour working week is the norm. And it is also normal to constantly text about work matters outside those times. You are never truly free.

– As soon as you become pregnant, your career is usually over (even though that may no longer officially play a role now, the reality is different). Companies don’t hire you when you become or are a mother, and push you out of the company when you get pregnant.

– High social pressure to take your child to the best school and extra private lessons. Which costs an incredible amount of money.

Gaming doesn’t really play a role. I don’t even know any friends who game in Korea. Everyone is constantly in study or work mode.
