Twitch streamers make too much money and are unemployed – is that so?

The Corona time literally let the Twitch platform explode. Many viewers have come, but also a lot of new ones Twitch Streamer. Again and again I read in the social media how critics approach streamers and influencers with the arguments “unemployed” and “too much money”. Are streamers unemployed and making too much money?

We live in the digital age

When I was a child, I used to call my friends with a push-button phone or a rotary dial. I knew almost every phone number by heart. As soon as you left the house, you could no longer be reached and only exposed to yourself and your environment.

September 2021: Meanwhile there are 8 million Twitch streamers worldwide. Almost everyone has a cell phone and can be reached around the clock. Every destination can now be reached with a navigation system, old road maps are only used sporadically.

The length of time between the rotary dial to the cell phone and Twitch streaming is not even the blink of an eye in human history. The development progressed rapidly, not everyone can still cope with it. Again and again I read reviews of streamers and influencers, with which I would like to express my statement in this article.

Twitch streamers make too much money- is that so?

That is an argument to which I can still say “yes”. The majority of streamers, from affiliates to small partner streamers, only earn a little pocket money. Through my research, I have already met so many streamers who all have the dream of making so much money with their hobby that they only have to work part-time or can even make a living from it.

However, there are also many Twitch Streamerwho take 2,000 to 5,000 or more subs per month, receive additional bits and donations and have lucrative advertising contracts. Here we are already in regions whose income, after deducting all ancillary costs and taxes, still makes you dizzy. This high income is felt to be too much if you compare it with other professional groups, in which they also work very hard but only earn a fraction of it.

Twitch streamers pay tax on their income, so it’s as much a job as any other. They not only contribute taxes, the platform also regularly hosts fundraising campaigns for social issues and environmental protection.

If you now look at the Top 20 Twitch Streamer purely only in the German-speaking area, so you can definitely say that there is absolutely too much money flowing here compared to many other streamers. I will give good examples later in the article that put this thing into perspective.
