Twitch Removes Support for Nintendo Switch: Latest News and Updates

jpnn.com – The live streaming application Twitch has stopped supporting connecting to the application Nintendo Switch.

Twitch will remove its app from the Nintendo eShop on November 6.

That means people who have downloaded Twitch will lose access starting January 31, 2024.

Twitch launched a Switch app in late 2021, but users have voiced several complaints with the app, such as not being able to see stream chat.

Additionally, Twitch users on Nintendo Switch cannot subscribe to creators if they want to support them.

Users also cannot use the application to broadcast their own games.

“We recently made the difficult decision to remove the Twitch app from Nintendo Switch,” said Twitch representative Gabriella Raila, in a statement.

“Nintendo remains a valued partner and we appreciate all the support the Switch community has given Twitch and our streamers,” he added.

Meanwhile, the IGN page reported that the deletion was carried out amid rumors that the Nintendo Switch 2 would arrive in 2024.

Twitch did not elaborate on its decision to remove the app on Nintendo Switch.

Elsewhere, the Switch continues to support popular apps like YouTube, but excludes big apps like Netflix.

The lack of support for major services has been a point of contention for Nintendo fans since the platform was released. (theverge/ant/jpnn)
