Twitch Releases Update After Experiencing Data Hacking

IDXChannelTwitch released the update after a hack that has exposed source code, streamer payout figures and other information.

The Twitch team said the data was exposed to the internet due to errors in Twitch server configuration changes which were then accessed by third parties.

The Amazon-owned streaming site added that there was no indication of credentials, including passwords being exposed.

“In addition, the full credit card number is not stored by Twitch, so the credit card number is also not exposed,” said the company, quoted from Engadget, Friday (8/10/2021).

This streaming app says that it has reset all stream locks and provides links to get new ones.

Twitch Studio, Streamlabs, Xbox, PlayStation, and Twitch Mobile App users don’t need to take any action for the user’s new key to work.

However, if the user has not yet connected the OBS account to Twitch, the user must manually copy the stream from the Twitch Dashboard and move it to OBS.

Some time ago, the attacker said that he stole the entirety of Twitch including the Twitch client and the site.

The company said that an investigation is ongoing. Twitch has added a recent update that they have reset all stream locks and is advising users on how to update their devices.
