Jakarta (ANTARA) – Application live streaming Twitch reportedly discontinued support for connecting with the Nintendo Switch app.
The Verge page reported on Wednesday that Twitch will remove its application from the Nintendo eShop on November 6, and people who have downloaded it will “lose access” starting January 31, 2024.
Twitch launched a Switch app in late 2021, but users have voiced several complaints with the app, such as not being able to see chat streamingfor example, which means users have to use another device if they want to see what other people are talking about or type messages.
Additionally, Twitch users on Nintendo Switch cannot subscribe to creators if they want to support them. Users also cannot use this application to broadcast their own games.
“We recently made the difficult decision to remove the Twitch app from Nintendo Switch,” said Twitch representative Gabriella Raila, in a statement.
“Nintendo remains a valued partner and we appreciate all the support the Switch community has given Twitch and streamer us,” he added.
Meanwhile, the IGN page reported that this deletion was carried out amidst rumors that the Nintendo Switch 2 would be available in 2024. Twitch did not explain further about its decision to delete the application on the Nintendo Switch.
Elsewhere, the Switch continues to support popular apps like YouTube, but excludes big apps like Netflix. The lack of support for major services has been a point of contention for Nintendo fans since the platform was released.
