Twitch, Amazon, CNN, Reddit, and many other sites failed due to a cloud provider problem

Update 12.59: Fastly has specified that it has identified and that a fix has already been applied. Many platforms, meanwhile, have already returned to operation.

The Content Delivery Network of Fastly, a cloud service provider, is experiencing technical problems that, in cascade, have stopped portals such as Twitch, Reddit, Quora and Amazon as well as newspapers such as CNN and the Guardian.

Users who try to access these portals are blocked by the 503 error. In some cases, the sites work in fits and starts or the images do not load.

On the official site, Fastly has not yet provided details on the type of problem, warning only that it is investigating the cause.

CDNs are components of networks that serve to bring content (such as websites) as close as possible to users: this allows to reduce the path that data must take and therefore to serve both companies and private users more quickly.
