Twirling Sport Noyon’s Eventful Journey: Stranded on the Highway after a Puncture

Twirling Sport Noyon Club Faces Unexpected Adventure on Return Trip from Nantes

The Twirling Sport Noyon (TSN), a sports twirling team, experienced an eventful return trip from Nantes on Sunday, June 25. The club’s car suffered a major puncture, leaving them stranded on the A11 highway and forcing them to spend part of the night at a motorway rest area.

Club president Stéphanie Rios took to Facebook to recount the unexpected adventure. The TSN coach had left Nantes at 5 p.m., but around 7:30 p.m., a tire burst in the middle of the A11. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident. With the bus immobilized in the middle of the highway, the 53 members of the club, including children and adults, took refuge behind the highway guardrail.

As they waited for help to arrive, the club had to improvise. At 8:30 p.m., they set up “dry toilets” to address the most pressing needs. The children patiently waited for assistance, and at 9:45 p.m., the bus was finally authorized to reach the nearest motorway rest area with the help of police escort. They found temporary shelter at a McDonald’s near Le Mans around 10 p.m.

It became clear that the bus could not be repaired and would not be able to continue the journey to Noyon. However, the members of the club made the best of the situation by doing what they do best – dancing. They held an improvised dance vigil while waiting for further assistance. The good news finally arrived when they learned that a bus from Noyon would come to their aid. The estimated time of arrival at the temporary shelter for the children was 4 a.m.

After a long and eventful journey, the club finally arrived in Noyon without any further problems at 7 a.m. on Monday morning. The entire trip took a total of 14 hours.

Despite the prolonged wait and uncertainty, the president highlighted the “cohesion and spirit of sharing” among the girls of the club during this misadventure. The association will undoubtedly remember this return from Nantes for a long time. In addition to the unexpected adventure, the club also brought back a few medals. They won three titles of federal champions in cadet grand prix, duo A, and federal honor, as well as a title of vice-champion and a bronze medal in duo E.

The positive attitude and resilience of the club members helped them navigate through the challenges they faced during their return trip.
