Al Strobel will forever be remembered as the mysterious ‘One Armed Man’ in ‘Twin Peaks’.
Al Strobel, who played the one-armed man in the cult series ‘Twin Peaks’, has died. TMZ writes. He lived to be 83 years old.
The news comes from producer Sabrina Sutherland, who has teamed up with David Lynch, the creator of ‘Twin Peaks’.
– He was an irreplaceable person and will always be part of our Twin Peaks family, he says in a statement according to Variety.
Strobel also played the one-armed man, whose real name was Philip Gerrard, in the movie ‘Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me’ and the ‘revival’ of the series ‘Twin Peaks: The Return’ in 2017.
The character is important to the series and to FBI agent Dale Cooper, perhaps the most important character in the series.
Strobel himself was one-armed after losing his arm in a car accident at 17.
The Twin Peaks producer wrote on Strobel’s Twitter:
– Oh no. Dear Al. As one of the lucky ones who got to meet him all the way, what a warm and lovely man he was. Rest in peace my friend.
Many of the actors from the popular series have died. Peggy Lipton, who played waitress Norma Jennings, died at age 72 in 2019
Jack Nance, who acts in one of the very first scenes of the film and is the one who finds the murdered Laura Palmer, died in 1997, just 53 years old. The death was investigated as a homicide.
Don Davis, who played Major Garland Briggs, died in 2008, while “The log lady” Catherine Coulson died in 2015.
Miguel Ferrer, who plays arrogant FBI agent Albert Rosenfield, died of cancer at the age of 61 in 2017.
