Twilight A380. Etihad decommissioned all ten largest aircraft for almost a year

The planes disappeared from the reservation system until next September. Airlines are getting rid of them due to high costs.

Etihad Airways is another carrier that will withdraw all Airbus A380 aircraft from the fleet by next September.

Company by server One Mile at a Time deleted all flights with this aircraft from the reservation system. Until now, it has planned to deploy the world’s largest passenger aircraft in two months to a number of destinations.

The deletion comes just days after airline chief Tony Douglas according to Reuters he said that a final decision on the future of these aircraft in the fleet had not yet been made, but indicated a significant inefficiency of these aircraft compared to twin-engine machines. The A380 in Etihad colors has not been flying since March.

The airlines have not yet officially confirmed the end of the aircraft in the fleet. Flights with the A380 have disappeared in the reservation system, for example on the route from Abu Dhabi to London, New York or Sydney. The airlines replaced them mostly with Boeing 787 or 777.

Airlines began phasing out the A380 before the coronavirus pandemic due to high costs, and a drop in demand showed that the aircraft were too large in the current situation. For example, they have been eliminated by Air France, they have been shut down at Lufthansa or Qantas for several years.
