Twenty-one drivers arrested for speeding at the A11 tollbooth in Thivars weekend

Twenty-one speeding tickets in just four hours. The gendarmes of the motorized platoon notably stopped two vehicles at 185 km / h instead of 130, yesterday, near the toll of the A11, in the province-Paris direction at Thivars.

One of them had no license or insurance. A license retention was carried out for the second, an Italian. Almost simultaneously two other motorists were intercepted following each other at more than 160 km / h. Another lack of insurance was found for a driver also arrested for driving at too high a speed.

Show up to raise awareness

To carry out these operations, the Thivars motorized platoon is set up in three separate places. A first radar checkpoint with binoculars. When the infringement is noted, the second intervention post sets off with the bikers of the peloton. These escort them to a third post for the verbalization.

“We carried out checks all weekend on the motorway axes and on the secondary axes”, declares Colonel Stéphane Tourtin. Speed and drowsiness are the main causes of death on motorways. “In Eure-et-Loir, nine people have been killed on the roads since the start of the year, three on the highway by hypovigilance or by speeding. »

The prefect of Eure-et-Loir, Françoise Souliman, was present on Sunday afternoon to “support the security forces and raise awareness among the population. It’s the same eternal message of awareness. Take care of your life and that of others in order to arrive on vacation, avoiding tragedies. »

Checks continued until 7 p.m. with four motorcycles and seven other gendarmes mobilized. That is eleven gendarmes out of the thirty in the Thivars platoon.
