The information raised concerns among the Armed Forces about the quality and condition of military equipment
FT: none of the 20 M109L self-propelled guns that Italy transferred to Ukraine turned out to be combat-ready.
Italy handed Ukraine 20 M109L self-propelled artillery units, which are not ready for combat, foreign agencies write.
According to the Financial Times, none of the 20 M109L self-propelled artillery units that Italy transferred to Ukraine as part of military aid were ready for combat.
The information raised concerns among the armed forces of Ukraine about the quality and condition of military equipment provided to the Ukrainian army by allies.
The M109L self-propelled artillery units are modernized versions of the American 155 mm M109 self-propelled guns and were developed by the Italian company Leonardo. They were expected to strengthen the artillery potential of the Ukrainian armed forces in the fight against the enemy.
However, as noted by the Financial Times, it became known that all 100% of the self-propelled artillery units transferred to Italy could not be used due to established malfunctions.
At the moment, it is not clear what problems prevent the use of self-propelled guns M109L in combat conditions and what measures are being taken to eliminate them. However, this weapon cannot be used, at least in the near future – it is obvious that for this reason Italian self-propelled guns have not yet been seen in combat use.
